S4 Ep 1: Does the pursuit of happiness do more harm than good?

We're back at it after a short break and we're raring to go with season 4! We've got some amazing guests lined up for this series, and we're looking forward to getting stuck in with some juicy discussions.

This week we were inspired by Emma Gannon's article in The Times titled 'The internet generation needs to focus less on goals and more on life'. In the article she discusses the concept of 'arrival fallacy', a term coined by Tal Ben-Shahar, in which people find that they aren't quite as happy as they thought they were going to be when they reached a desired goal or target.

In this episode we discuss our own experiences of arrival fallacy e.g getting engaged, going on holiday, losing weight etc. It's never quite how you expect it to be, despite pinning so much on it and getting really excited for the feeling of satisfaction you think you're going to get.

We also question how you can avoid arrival fallacy, and whether it's possible to not get disappointed if you things don't live up to your expectations.
